The revelation came directly from Gunn, co-head of DC Studios and a self-proclaimed Big Brother superfan. During a recent live episode of Big Brother, Devens — a fan-favorite Survivor alum known for his charismatic gameplay on Survivor: Edge of Extinction and Survivor 50 — gave a shoutout to Gunn while casting his eviction vote. Gunn shared the clip on social media, prompting fans to inquire about their connection.

Gunn confirmed the pair’s friendship and explained the missed opportunity: Devens had been set to appear in a background role in Man of Tomorrow, but he backed out after securing a spot in the Big Brother house. “He was gonna appear in the background of MoT but he had to cancel (his awesome wife and kids still came),” Gunn wrote.

“He couldn’t tell me why but told me I’d be excited. Obviously I was!” Devens’ family reportedly attended the filming without him.

Devens, a 42-year-old TV newscaster, joined Big Brother 28 as one of two surprise Survivor alums added to the cast. He is currently competing for the $750,000 grand prize alongside a mix of new players and returning reality stars.
