From Peach Rum to Meatgate: How Shamea’s New BFF Circle Is Already Imploding in Just Four Episodes

Shamea Morton came into The Real Housewives of Atlanta Season 17 determined to build a fresh circle after her explosive breakup with Porsha. Four episodes later, that new circle is already cracking — and the drama is juicier than ever.

In Episode 4’s “Where’s The Beef…and The Budget,” Shamea’s carefully curated new crew — Pinky (the friend she introduced) and Kelli (her promoted post-Porsha bestie) — turned Pinky’s own charity giveback event into Meatgate central. What was supposed to be a wholesome community afternoon quickly became another example of how fast “new era” friendships can implode on RHOA.

The Setup: Shamea’s Fresh Start

Let’s rewind. In the Season 17 premiere (Episode 1), after her decades-long friendship with Porsha crumbled (complete with lingering reunion shade and that awkward YouTube apology), Shamea arrived at Porsha’s Mystic Island party with two new allies: Kelli as her ride-or-die and Pinky as her shiny new addition to the group.

By Episode 3, Shamea was focused on her own business ambitions, launching her peach rum line in Grenada with lawyers and execs. Everything looked like a clean, empowering reset.

Then Episode 4 hit.

Meatgate Explodes at the Charity Event

While Pinky was trying to give back through her Pinky Cole Foundation — providing toiletries, rent help, and support to the community — the rumor mill started spinning. Phaedra Parks allegedly told people that Pinky secretly eats meat, later walking it back to “she used to own a Jamaican restaurant that served meat.”

Shamea got dragged in when she admitted in her confessional:

“I swear I thought the lady told me that Pinky eats meat.”

Kelli — the same Kelli who became Shamea’s new #1 after the Porsha fallout — didn’t help. She doubled down on camera, claiming:

“Because I see her eating a steak.”

Pinky, understandably furious, confronted the group directly:

“Phaedra around here telling people I eat meat now.”

The irony? This blow-up happened at an event meant to highlight Pinky’s successful vegan empire and philanthropy — the very brand she’s built her entire identity around (and sits on the PETA board for).

A Fragile New Circle Crumbling

This isn’t just random shade — it’s a direct hit to Shamea’s attempt at reinvention:

  • She brought Pinky in as a friend in Episode 1.
  • She elevated Kelli to bestie status after the Porsha freeze-out.
  • She launched her own peach rum hustle in Episode 3, trying to carve out her own lane.

Now her two closest new allies are at the center of a ridiculous rumor that’s embarrassing one of them on national television. Kelli fueling the fire is especially messy considering she and Pinky had just bonded earlier in the same episode over their shared bankruptcy struggles.

It’s a far cry from the “openness” and “closure” Porsha claimed to want with Shamea back at the Mystic Island party. Instead, Shamea’s new squad is showing the same fractures the old one had — just faster and over something as silly as veganism.

Are the “New Era” Friendships Even More Fragile?

This season started with talk of a soft reboot and fresh energy. Yet here we are in Episode 4 watching Shamea’s inner circle turn on itself while the veterans (Phaedra especially) stir the pot from the sidelines. The Meatgate chaos, combined with Pinky’s very public $5M financial spiral and Kelli’s own business woes, suggests the new girls’ alliance might be more fragile than the veteran rivalries it was meant to replace.

Will Shamea be forced to choose sides between Pinky and Kelli? Can her peach rum dreams survive if her personal life keeps providing this much mess? And how long before Porsha catches wind of all this and uses it as ammunition in the ongoing cold war?

Shamea came looking for loyalty after losing her longest friendship. Four episodes in, she might be realizing that starting over on RHOA is never that simple.

RHOA Season 17 continues Sundays at 8/7c on Bravo and streams next day on Peacock. The new era is serving more drama than anyone expected.
