Kaptaan Web Series Honest Review : Something Different or Just Typical Violence Drama?

kaptaan

Just wrapped up Season 1 of the 8-episode violent drama Kaptaan on MX Player. I’ll be honest — by the end of this review, you’ll know whether it’s worth watching or just a complete waste of time.

I would rate this series 5/10, mainly because of Munna aka Sharad Shukla from Mirzapur (Anjumm Sharma) and Vikram Kochhar.

I decided to watch the series after repeatedly seeing its short clips online — mostly intimate scenes and violent dialogues. But surprisingly, the series does not contain any intimate scenes. However, it does include a lot of vulgarity and abusive language, just like a typical crime series of today’s era.

Right from Episode 1, the series failed to hook or engage me.

The story feels like a very typical clash between an honest police officer and a goon backed by politicians. The Kabir angle (Siddharth Nigam) adds a slight twist to the story, but even that ends without a proper showdown or engaging payoff.

If you’re a Mirzapur fan, don’t expect the same level of story, drama, or action from Kaptaan. The action scenes are honestly embarrassing and feel like outdated 90s Bollywood action. They are neither raw nor professionally choreographed.

The storyline is extremely predictable, and you won’t find any fresh angle, mystery, or suspense. In many ways, it feels like a weaker version of Bhaukaal starring Mohit Raina — but Bhaukaal operates on a completely different level when it comes to mystery, storytelling, and suspense.

The story also ends with several unanswered questions — what’s next for Samar Singh and Kabir? The platform may renew the series for a second season to continue the story and explore the Kabir vs Samar Singh era further.

Bottom Line: If you’re planning to watch this just for time pass, I honestly don’t think it’s worth it. Instead, watch Bhaukaal — that series is genuinely worth watching twice or even thrice.
